Dasyueshan National Forest Recreation Area

Autumn maple colors, summer starry nights, evening seas of clouds, Reeves's muntjacs and Mikado pheasants darting along the forest roads, and greater Taichung's only easily accessible giant red cypress — the Xueshan Sacred Tree — are the most captivating impressions of Dasyueshan National Forest Recreation Area. Once the Dasyueshan logging area opened in 1958, it brought prosperity to Dongshi and Fengyuan; today this mountain area, just an hour from Dongshi, is a forest recreation area that continues to share nature's blessings with central Taiwan. At over 2,000 meters, the climate is cool, and the original giant hinoki cypress forest surviving around the Small Sacred Tree Trail and the old log-skid path is among the park's most beautiful sights.
