A-Ma Temple

A-Ma Temple

The A-Ma Temple (Portuguese: Templo de A-Má; also known as Pagode da Barra), formerly called Neong Ma Temple, Hoi Kok Temple and Tin Fei Temple, is a temple dedicated mainly to the sea goddess Mazu, located on the slope of Barra Hill in the southwest of the Macau Peninsula. Built around 1553–1557, it is one of Macau's landmark buildings and, together with Lin Fung Temple and Kun Iam Temple, is one of the three great ancient temples of Macau — and the oldest among them. Its architecture features Minnan (southern Fujian) characteristics.
