Wulai Log Cart

The Wulai log carts originally carried only timber. As tourism around Wulai Waterfall grew, passenger service officially began in 1963, with carts pushed by hand. To handle rising visitor numbers, the line was motorized in 1974 using diesel engines, and in 1987 a tunnel was dug at the Waterfall Station to replace the original turntable, an arrangement still in use today. The line runs 1.5 kilometers from Wulai to the waterfall, operating daily from 9:00 to 17:00 with extended hours in the peak summer season, and carts depart as soon as passengers board.
