Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area

Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area

At Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area you can admire a white banyan that has grown into a forest of its own, wander beautiful plantation woods, climb Maozi (Hat) Mountain for sweeping views, or follow the Fenggang River upstream to Shuangliu Waterfall — once voted Taiwan's second most beautiful waterfall — rich in negative ions and fresh air, offering a different side of the Hengchun Peninsula. Located in Shizi Township, Pingtung County, less than half an hour from Fenggang, 'Shuangliu' (twin streams) takes its name from the confluence of the Daren and Neiwen creeks, tributaries of the upper Fenggang River. Formerly Paiwan territory, the area preserves the remains of their distinctive 'turtle-shell houses' along the White Banyan Trail.
