Seimei Shrine

Seimei Shrine (Seimei Jinja) is a Shinto shrine in Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto, Japan, dedicated to Abe no Seimei. Located northwest of Ichijo Modoribashi bridge on the site of Seimei's former residence, it is known as a shrine for warding off evil and misfortune. During his lifetime, Seimei dispelled troubles and averted calamities for people, earning the trust of everyone from emperors and nobles to common folk—a trust that continues to this day. Shrines of the same name exist throughout Japan.
