Aogu Wetland Forest Park

Aogu Wetland Forest Park was once a base where the Taiwan Sugar Corporation reclaimed land from the sea for farming, fishing, livestock, and sugarcane cultivation. Severe land subsidence and seawater intrusion into the groundwater gradually left the farm abandoned. With its low-lying terrain surrounded by seawalls, the fish ponds and old farmland turned into natural reservoirs after heavy rains, and over time these wetland habitats attracted more and more migratory and resident birds, forming today's Aogu Wetland Forest Park. As its extensive plantations mature into forest over the next ten to twenty years, Aogu Wetland will become a world-class ecological site with diverse forest types and rich wetland ecosystems.
