The blackboard menu is in both Chinese and Japanese: the owner speaks fluent Japanese, so the place is often full of Japanese diners in Taiwan for business or work. Though the dishes look like everyday home cooking and drinking snacks, they're so good that one taste makes you a regular—it's a go-to restaurant many Japanese friends specifically choose when visiting Hsinchu.
