In 2018, a new landmark combining cultural and creative design with lodging opened behind the busy Lukang Tianhou Temple. It stands on a quiet lane just off the bustle. Its clean, simple exterior blends old and new and brings fresh energy to the charming old town of Lukang. The name comes from its location on Gonghou Lane ("behind the temple"). It takes the character "gong" (temple) from the lane's name and "hou" (empress) because the owner is a woman, giving "Gonghou Boutique Hotel." The owner has worked in paper design for many years and has put that design experience and expertise into the hotel, adding a new touch of color to Lukang.
