The Place Tainan (台南老爺行旅)

The Place is the design-led lifestyle brand of Hotel Royal Group. Its name reflects a strong connection to the local culture and character of each hotel's location. The first property is in Tainan, Taiwan's city richest in history. It opened at the end of 2014 as the group's 12th hotel. The Place Tainan was designed by the Dutch architecture firm Mecanoo together with international teams such as the UK's dpa lighting consultants. Built around a blend of old and new, it makes extensive use of lattice windows, brick, tile and wood, so that Tainan's landscape and traditional imagery come alive again through modern design.
