Zhu Yuan (竹苑)

We are native Yilan people. The Yilan of our memories is field after field of rice paddies, with a bamboo grove hidden among them. Follow the winding path through the paddies and you will find a red-brick courtyard house surrounded by bamboo. That is the Yilan I remember. As a child, on my way to school in the early morning, the scenery of rice paddies along the country lane was etched into my memory: egrets in the fields, farmers hard at work at dawn. Only now do I understand that this was ordinary happiness. What we want to bring back is the peace of mind this land once gave us. "Zhu Yuan" is a modern way of expressing that,
