Hushan Hot Spring Resort (虎山溫泉會館)
Hushan Hot Spring Resort was formerly known as "Yuandunzai", named after a small island left by erosion in the Wenshui River. Roughly 1.8 hectares in area and made up of countless hard sandstone rocks, it is surrounded by clear streams in a secluded, scenic setting, and was originally an uninhabited islet. In 1974, an overseas Chinese surnamed Fan living in Japan passed through, was struck by the scenery, and immediately pledged to invest in developing it, establishing the Lüyuan Hall (today's Hushan Hot Spring Resort). In 1989 it changed hands to Shantai Development Co., Ltd. under Chairman Li Tai-yu. It is the only resort recorded in the official township gazetteer of Tai'an Township, Miaoli County, the first landmark resort in the Tai'an Hot Spring scenic area, and the only one in all of Taiwan operating on a small island.
