In 2006, longing for "fresh air free for the taking, an elegant setting fit for immortals," Julie, the soon-to-be owner of Fengqing, resolutely left the noisy, bustling world behind and came to this paradise at 1,638 m. On this small plot of land she was determined to make bountiful, she drew up a blueprint of graceful flowers, plants and trees, gazing out at the layered mountain peaks, caressing the ever-shifting clouds and mist, and listening to birds competing in song.
