Bishan Old House (碧山老房子)

Bishan Old House B&B is tucked away in Bishan Village, a small, unpretentious settlement in eastern Kinmen, right next door to the Chen Qingji Western-style Mansion. The old house began as a humble net shed; through the owners' hard work and frugality in the late Qing and early Republican years, it gradually grew into a traditional Minnan red-brick residence with swallowtail ridges, one main hall and four side wings. It weathered Ming-era Japanese pirates, Qing-era sea bandits and the Nationalist–Communist conflict, surviving the fires of war. Soldiers and civilians once lived here as one family, and together with the neighboring Chen Qingji Mansion it is a shared memory for the people of Bishan. Restoring the old residence into Bishan Village's first B&B was the Chen family's shared wish. There is no lavish decor here, but every trace left by the ancestors has been preserved...
