A degree in civil engineering and architecture destined a life of work on the move—from Kaohsiung to Taipei, Taiwan to mainland China, and far across the world, with work, career, hardships and joys along the way. Passing through countless cities and staying in all kinds of hotels, the bustling or simple streets shared the same silver moonlight; under the streetlights, five-star hotels offered lavish decor and plush beds, while ordinary business hotels squeezed a slightly short, somewhat hard bed into a cramped room. The one feeling they all shared: a certain coldness without the warmth of home, pillows that never smelled like your own; and late at night, a quiet wave of loneliness and homesickness... missing home.
