Feng Cai Guesthouse
In the history of central Taiwan's development, there was once a trade route that travelers had to take between Lukang and Huludun (present-day Fengyuan). Along the way, maple trees with canopies like umbrellas greeted the endless stream of traveling merchants, earning the road the elegant name "Maple Tree Trail." There was also a village settlement along the route called "Fengshujiao" (foot of the maple trees), an important resting spot for travelers in the old days. Before the Liuguan landholders opened irrigation canals and cultivated the "Taiyerdun" area of northern Taichung (Fengyuan, Tanzi, Daya, Shengang), it too was covered with maple forests; today, in Shizuo Lane on Dongyang Road in Fengyuan's eastern outskirts (Lovers' Valley), there still stands a maple tree over three hundred years old.
