Kanding Home (崁頂家)

Kanding Home is a B&B converted from a four-story townhouse on Tianliao Road in Kanding Township, Pingtung County, not far from the Kanding interchange exit of National Freeway 3. The owners, who live in northern Taiwan, were drawn to its location near the freeway with convenient driving access, its rural countryside scenery, and its rarely seen double-height living room, so they bought it, planning to follow the poet Tao Yuanming's idyll of 'picking chrysanthemums by the eastern fence, gazing serenely at the southern mountains' after retirement. They commissioned Shih Chih-hung, a teacher at Fu-Hsin Trade and Arts School in New Taipei City, to travel south to handle the design and renovation. After many trips back and forth, Mr. Shih felt that a place like this ought to be shared with more people
