Youkeshu Guesthouse

Here stands a tree, near the Guanshan ridge in Hengchun. From the moment the owners planted it in the soil, through two years of careful tending, the small tree finally grew tall—using its sturdy trunk to block the strong winds and its lush leaves to shade the blazing sun. That tree is our dream. At the end of 2014, Youkeshu Guesthouse was born. The journey had its laughter and tears, but every frustration melted away at the sight of the mountains and sea stretching out before us. The masses of driftwood left by Typhoon Morakot were what first led the owner into woodworking and the gathering of building materials—salvaged Taiwan first-grade timbers such as cypress, zelkova, and Chinese pistache.
