Kunshen Wang Ping An Salt Festival
[Kunshen Wang Ping An Salt Festival: Three Hundred Years of Salt and Faith] A remarkable twist of fate began a celebration passed down for generations. Back in 1662, two legends converged on the same land: that year, the Prince of Yanping (Koxinga) introduced sun-dried salt techniques, making the Jingzaijiao Tile-Paved Salt Fields in Beimen the cradle of Taiwan's salt industry—still standing after more than two hundred years as a "living architectural heritage." That same year, five Wangye deities (Da Qiansui) arrived by sacred boat on the Kunshen sandbar and chose the site to build a temple, protecting the people ever since. This is today's "head temple of the Wangye faith"—Nankunshen Daitian Temple.
