Baguashan Eagle-Watching Season Series Events

The grey-faced buzzard gets its name from the grey face of the male bird. Because it arrives in the Baguashan and Dadushan areas around the Qingming (Tomb-Sweeping) Festival, people in central Taiwan call it the "Qingming bird" or "tomb-sweeping bird", and as it comes from the south it is also known as the "southern-route hawk". It is the official county bird of Changhua, symbolizing the people of Changhua's commitment to keeping promises, honoring trust, and remembering their ancestors, and it is a rare and precious protected species. Every March and April, grey-faced buzzards migrating north from their wintering grounds pass over Baguashan. The local eagle-watching events have been held for 30 years, aiming to protect the grey-faced buzzard over the long term and promote ecological awareness.
