Dongyin from the Sea
Dongyin Island lies at the northeastern edge of the Matsu Islands. Its rocks are mostly gray-green diorite; both the granite and diorite are hard igneous rocks formed roughly 85 to over 100 million years ago. The boat tour departs from Zhongzhu Harbor, passing sea cliffs dotted with military relics from the battlefield administration era, such as gun emplacements and sentry posts. It passes the Shuangzi Reef tern reserve, where black-tailed gulls can be observed, while Dongyin's Lienu Yikeng, Yixiantian and Yanxiu Chaoyin are all classic sea-eroded gullies. The towering sea cliffs, over a hundred meters deep, are even more awe-inspiring seen from the water
