2026 Alishan Forest Railway Cherry Blossom & Maple Viewing Themed Train Tours

Alishan's annual highlights are the cherry blossom season in March and the maple season in December, drawing crowds of travelers eager to catch these seasonal, limited-time views. To keep promoting the Alishan Forest Railway, the Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office has run cherry blossom and maple viewing trains since 2019, hauled by a century-old Shay steam locomotive with attached cypress-wood carriages, offering in-depth guided commentary along the way for a fresh impression of Alishan. The seasonal themed trains (cherry blossom and maple trains) take visitors to branch-line stations, including Zhushan Station at 2,451 meters (the highest), Duiyue Station, Zhaoping Station, and Erwanping Station. Participants have come from overseas—including Japan, Korea, Europe, and North America—and praise the tours highly.
