2026 City God Night Patrol and Cangue-Bearing Ritual

Held at the national historic site Chiayi City God Temple, the City God Night Patrol and cangue-bearing ritual for dispelling misfortune encompasses the nearly century-old Chiayi City God Zhongyuan Festival and the Handan bombardment blessing for devotees. Among this year's innovations is a collaboration with local theater group Our Theatre, turning popular supernatural legends surrounding the Chiayi City God Zhongyuan Festival into short films. City God deities and participants from across the region are also invited—including Kinmen's 'grandpa carrying grandma' and 'da hua cao' folk performances, and the First and Second Lords from mainland China and Singapore—making the event international, unique, and sustainable.
