2026 Austronesian Wedding

Centered on the traditional weddings of the Rukai and Paiwan peoples of northern Pingtung's three Indigenous townships, the Austronesian Wedding series spans tribal customs, everyday culture, and craft aesthetics, offering couples and travelers an in-depth travel experience as they roam the Indigenous communities of Kaohsiung and Pingtung and feel the warmth of their homelands. The main event is a traditional noble wedding of the Paiwan and Rukai peoples, whose unique ancient rites—proposal, firewood-gift delivery, raising the swing frame, betrothal, and the wedding ceremony—let participating couples deeply experience Indigenous traditional culture and marriage customs, witnessed by tribal members and elders.
