The Way of Sails: Tamsui–Hirado Exchange Special Exhibition

In the mid-17th century, Spanish forces arrived at the river mouth in northwestern Taiwan—Tamsui—ushering it into the sweeping tides of the Age of Sail. The Spanish stay in Tamsui was brief; in 1642 the Dutch East India Company took over, making Tamsui an important part of its rule in Asia.
