Decorative Techniques and Painting in Ceramic Art: A Ceramics Exhibition by Lin Fa-chuan and Wang Hsuan-wen
Ceramics are the signature craft of Yingge, Taiwan — shaped from clay and adorned with color, yielding works of many different styles and charms. After firing, the glazed surface is painted, with precious materials such as gold conceived as the final artistic step, bringing graceful tones and visual beauty to the plain, unadorned white porcelain, while the painted motifs give each piece a complete story. Practiced from East to West for more than three hundred years, this technique is known as "overglaze painted porcelain."
