Kinmen Seventh Lunar Month (Ghost Month) Rituals

The seventh lunar month is one of Kinmen's most distinctive folk festivals and an important time to experience local religious culture. When the seventh lunar month arrives, every household prepares abundant offerings to worship the "good brothers" (wandering spirits). From the first day of the month, families hang "Pudu lanterns", also known as "Laodagong lanterns", in front of their doors at dusk, lighting them to illuminate and guide the way for the spirits.
